I enjoy photography, gardening and computer design. That's why my blogs are so enjoyable for me, because I can post the pictures (so many of gardens, landscapes, sunsets and of course grandchildren).

"Down by the Swimmin' Hole"

Dave and Bets Hahn, 26657 Co. Rd. 48
This couple moved back to the family farm eight years ago and found a blank pallet awaiting them. Taking up the challenge of creating an inviting green space, these two have gradually added trees, shrubs, and perennials to give their home an inviting look. Not stopping to sit and rest this grandpa and grandma wanted a ‘swimmin’ hole for their grandkids to enjoy during hot summer days. A waterfall was then added to keep the water circulating throughout the pond. An 1860’s log cabin, two miles down the road, was moved to the Hahn farm. Dave carefully tore it down log by log and rebuilt it adding a wrap around porch to protect the logs. Family and friends feel this historic cabin is an idyllic place for get-togethers throughout the seasons of the year. A small vegetable garden, apple and pear trees, and a grape arbor provide fresh produce for the family dinner table. Little hands picking grapes are reminded of Great Grandma’s planting of the arbor, long before Grandpa Dave was born. History, family, and gardening certainly continue to be grown on this well maintained farm.
